Washington Hardwoods also uses our DuraStraight™ technology in manufacturing residential jambs. We have succeeded in producing a high-quality jamb that has true wood warmth and never looks mass-produced. We offer numerous species and sizes in our products, as well as a wide range of stain and finish options.

Advantages of the DuraStraight™
Engineered Jambs

  *Durability
DuraStraight™ products are more durable, stable and straight than solids. Solid hardwood has the tendency to react to environmental conditions by cupping, warping, or twisting. DuraStraight™ is less susceptible to these conditions due to the combination of selected engineered components. An added feature is the thin-cut lumber technology, rather than veneers, used in our jambs which allows full-face sanding and refinishing for complete remodeling projects in the future.
  * Beauty
The beauty of our DuraStraight™ product must be seen to be appreciated. (click to go to gallery) Utilizing only premium-grade lumber for thin cut lumber faces and edges Washington Hardwoods can provide an engineered solution for nearly any solid hardwood application. Our premium-grade products actually possess a higher visual grade than solid wood due to the natural defect characteristics found in wood. These natural defects are eliminated during our lumber grading and finishing processes.
* Ease of use
Solid hardwood materials can be difficult to work with due to their very nature. DuraStraight™ products utilize laminating technology to attach our thin-cut lumber and edges to a much softer, but more stable composite core, resulting in an engineered product that is easier to nail, staple, cut or screw during the installation processes. DuraStraight™ products are straighter and less susceptible to the natural twisting, cupping and warping characteristics of solid wood. DuraStraight™ products are a superior product to work with when compared to most solid products.
* Environmentally conscious
In a climate of deforestation the availability of high quality hardwood lumber is diminishing. As the supply and quality of hardwood lumber products decline, engineered products offer a creative solution to the continuing demand for hardwood . Only on rare occasions will solid hardwood materials be required without an engineered solution or alternative. Utilizing engineered components such as the DuraStraight™ product-line is a responsible method of managing our natural resources.
* Variety of Species and Sizes
Washington Hardwoods stocks residential frames in Oak, Maple, Cherry, Mahogany, VG Fir and Alder. These species are stocked in standard 4-9/16 and 4-13/16 jamb sizes. Other hardwood species and custom sizes can be supplied upon request.
